Adult Reading Round Table

Developing Readers Advisory skills and promoting reading for pleasure through public libraries in the Chicago metrop
olitan area.

BOOKLISTS
Each year, the Adult Reading Round Table chooses a topic of interest and creates an annotated booklist of the subject.  The booklists are comprised of fiction titles unless otherwise noted.  Booklists are arranged alphabetically.  It is important to note that the booklists are in no way meant to be comprehensive.  Rather, they contain a sampling of books ARRT had thought to be noteworthy at the time.   Libraries have permission to use these lists at their own libraries as long as ARRT is credited.

Memoirs: A Slice of Life
Memoirs give the reader a peek into an author's life as they remember it.

Audiobooks: Read by Listening
Audiobooks allow ravenous readers to continue to read even when they're on the go.  Plus, many audiobooks provide the listener with an enhanced experience of the story, as the narration brings characters to life in a unique way.

One Thing Leads to Another...A Reading Map
Have you ever noticed that you tend to read in patterns? While we may not seek out a read-alike for a book we have enjoyed, perhaps we find a book that contains a particular link--such as a shared setting, time period, subject matter, or similar characters. This "serial bibliography" provides an example of the way readers can suggest connected books to one another.

Multicultural Literature
Multicultural literature allows readers to experience life in far away lands without ever having to lift their feet or close their eyes to dream!
