Adult Reading Round Table
Steering Committee Job Descriptions

CHAIRPERSON

It is the responsibility of the ARRT Chair to make sure the organization is running smoothly. The Chair term is for 2 consecutive years, beginning at the November meeting.

Committee Meetings:

  • Schedule dates, times, and location of meetings. 6 meetings per year, every other month, 2 sites if possible.  Generally the first Thursday of the month, 2pm-4pm.

  • Inform the committee of upcoming meetings.

  • Set agenda and make copies of agenda and minutes.

  • Chair the meetings, keeping order and allowing everyone a chance to participate.

  • Have committee members report on their work.

In addition, the Chair acts as a liaison to the library community and represents the Adult Reading Round Table.  Requests for information about ARRT, or ways that ARRT can assist the library community at large go through the current Chair.

The Chair supervises Committee members by making sure members are attending meetings, and making sure members understand their duties.

The Chair is expected to attend all programs and workshops, and will greet the general Membership at programs and introduce speakers, if necessary.

The Chair will recruit new members and send letters to potential new members.
